In 1912 after years of experimentation and just before the outbreak of revolution and wars on an unprecedented scale, at the moment when the old world was dissolving and the new world was not yet born, G.I. Gurdjieff brought his teaching of the Fourth Way to Russia. “Begin in Russia, end in Russia”, Gurdjieff said, but what is the meaning of this phrase?
During the past hundred years what exactly have we accomplished and how can we do better? I think we can all agree that the Work is indispensible, not just for our own personal evolution, but for the survival of the world in which we live. Will our Work mature sufficiently to be able to prepare the groundwork for the coming Good?
In the year 2012 we are planning to honor the centennial of the birth of the Work here in Moscow by organizing an International Conference. The main objective of this Conference is to examine the influence of Gurdjieff’s Work on the world and on ourselves.
The Conference will be held on October 5 – 7 2012. Presentations and Round-Table Discussions are scheduled for October 5th and 6th, while October 7th is assigned for sightseeing and informal meetings.
The participation in the Conference is voluntary. The Conference does not cover the expenses for travel to and from Moscow or accommodations; however we are willing to recommend some reasonable choices of hotels.
Those who wish to take part in the Conference and make a Presentation must send us a confirmation of their intentions along with a brief Abstract of the Presentation and a short bio within a month. The Conference offers different activities even for those who will not read their Presentations: they will have the opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world interested in Gurdjieff’s legacy, participate in the discussions, communicate with other participants and go sightseeing around Moscow.
A number of people from the USA, Europe and different parts of Russia have already confirmed their intention to participate in the Conference. You may invite your friends or anybody who feels enthusiastic about this event.
